Callan and Ettienne won an engagement session with us last year. They decided to do it close to home in Solana Beach with their pup in tow! They were married this December at The Cape Hotel in Cabo San Lucas. Congrats to this gorgeous couple who has a baby on the way!

Venue Review: Acre Baja // Cabo San Lucas Wedding Venue // San Jose Del Cabo Wedding Venue
Last month we had the privilege of staying at one of San Jose Del Cabo's newest up-and-coming wedding venue and boutique resort. Acre Baja, is a hidden tropical oasis set in over 25 acres of lush palm trees with private event spaces, an award-winning bar and restaurant, rescue animal sanctuary and the most amazing tree houses that provide the best escape from reality.
Walking into Acre you are greeted by hundreds (thousands?) of beautiful lush palm trees & tropical plants. You are surrounded by a very well kept forest of greenery that makes you want to re-do all your landscaping back home...
Upon check-in, you are served a glass of water and one of their amazing & refreshing signature cocktails. The staff are all extremely friendly and take pride in their beautiful property. The concierge takes you on a tour of the property and shows you all of their amenities from the pool, to the bocce & volley ball courts, and even ping pong tables which are all designed to fit into Acres' immaculately designed grounds.
We decided to stay in the Deluxe King Treehouse which consists of two king suites separated by a bridge about 40ft up in the air! Your view is among the tree tops and provides the ultimate sleeping experience (even in August)! Both rooms have a king bed and an outdoor patio. The rooms are completely screened in, protecting you from bugs at night (there weren't many). The beds are comfortable and have a fan above them to keep you cool. The main king suite has an indoor toilet, sink, & closet with additional storage under the bed. The outdoor shower (privacy included) is my favorite bathing experience to-date! Being in the shower surrounded by the trees & having an open view of the sky above you is absolutely perfect.
The overall design of the grounds is breathtaking. There is a lot of concrete, geometric tile-work, tons of tropical plants and the best, sweetest, juiciest mangos we have ever had! The property has many mango trees that provide shade and the best mangos ever that are even served pool-side while you enjoy another one of their delicious cocktails -- our favorite is the Hummingbird that is a vodka-based passion fruit cocktail that is the perfect amount of refreshing.
The pool is stunning. It is huge, the lip of the pool is about a foot above the ground and surrounded by teak wood & the geometric tile-work I mentioned earlier... There is a vanishing edge around the entire pool and as you float in the middle all you can see is the water & all of the beautiful cactus and trees that surround you.
The food was next-level. Every dish is carefully thought out and regionally inspired. The fried green tomatoes, seared pulpo (octopus), and molé chilaquiles were among our favorites! After you finish the main course their desserts wrap up the meal perfectly. The tres leches and chocolate cakes are both rich & leave you completely satisfied.
The outdoor event space is lined with mango trees and the floor is their signature blue and white tiles. The trees provide a little shade and make the space feel separate and intimate. The space is surrounded by agave, grass, cactus and every other lush plant you would expect. The grounds at Acre provide countless photo opportunities and there is not a single bad thing to be said about it. We have visited multiple times for a meal or just to walk around and now we can say that we have stayed there as well! We will definitely be back and recommend it to everyone making a trip down to San Jose del Cabo.
Whether you're looking for a spot to host your bachelor/bachelorette get-away or are ready to dive into destination wedding planning, this place should be first on your list to check out! The food, drinks, and accommodations were beyond a first class experience.
